Currently it would cost me about the same in mortgage repayments as it does in rent. the house I am renting is near the city and the rent just went up nearly 50%. I want to buy a property but wonder how long it will take me to save the deposit. I have half of it so I am getting there. If rent wasnt so high I could afford more.

I am also renting and looking to buy in Brisbane. it would be great if the boost to the first homebuyer grant was extended as I dont think I will settle before June.
